Flight range of Club cruise missiles is about to be increased

Being a developer and manufacturer of Clubclass cruise missiles, group company Morinformsistema-Agat is ready to increase flight range of the missiles from 220-270 km up to 500 km, said the head of the company's foreign economic activity department Rostislav Atkov in the interview to ITAR-TASS at 10th international defense exhibition IDEX-2011

"It is the third time we present our main production – missile systems Club-MClub-K, and Club-U. They have aroused a great interest among numerous countries. We received commercial requests from variety of Asian and European states", pointed out Atkov. "Rosoboronexport has already sent appropriate offers to them. Normally, the process from a commercial request to a contract takes three years", he said.
Answering the question whether the company has plans to increase flight range of Club missiles from 220-270 km to 500 km, Atkov said "we're ready to increase the range. There's no problem to do that by reducing payload weight. It is absolutely possible considering present-day missile technology. And we have already made an appropriate proposal to Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation. Technically, the missile's flight range can be easily increased up to 500 km", he added.

Speaking about the interest shown by Middle East states towards Club cruise missiles, Atkov said that unfortunately, "there are numerous stormy events happened in the region, so those countries would have to allocate some funds to social programs".

Coastal missile system Club-K is capable to destroy sea surface and land targets at the range up to 275 km. Eight-wheeled mobile launcher carries 6 missile rounds. Target detection range in passive mode is up to 450 km.

Missile system Club-K has an appearance of a common shipping container. It can be mounted on maritime, automotive, or railway platforms. Depending on the missiles used, flight range varies from 12.5 to 275 km.

Missile system Club-U is mounted on surface ships.
